Model IT! Week 2-Take Home Task

Norman Fisher House
Our week 2 Take Home Task required us to build the the landscape in which Norman Fisher house was situated on. The house is a two story house with a basement.

The house is characterized by its dual cubic spaces, stone foundation and detailed cladding. the house focuses on simple geometry allowing the cubes to provide a separation of public and private spaces.

For this model i believed using balsa was the best material In order to ensure my landscape contours of Fisher House were to scale i re-sized the plan given using photo-shop and printed it out. I would then place the template on balsa and score each contour out.

Contours
When cutting the contour I would leave an excess of balsa at the end of each contour to ensure i was able to glue the contours together.

First Landscape Model
This was the method of how I constructed my first landscape model, but the problem with this model was that it did not have any provisions for fisher house to fit.  I ended up re doing the model at a later time i used the same method as i did for the first but this time i made provision for the house.

The most difficult aspect of this assignment was taking into consideration that their had to be a space left in the middle to fit in the house. This took a lot of thinking as i had to consider in which contours the house was situated above.

Final Model
Overall this project enhanced my model making skills and helped me understand how landscape model making works. This project also gets you to think pragmatically and opens up your problem solving skills as you are trying to find a way to bring all the aspects of the landscape together.
